These services include training, support for community groups and volunteer involving organisations, local forums, support with the Disclosure & Barring Service (formerly a CRB checking service) and direct volunteering brokerage. It's Quiz time! Voluntary Centre Services is inviting community organisations and charities to join them for a celebratory pub quiz to mark Volunteers’ Week. Teams of up to five can put their general knowledge to the test on the evening of Thursday 6th June at the Solo Club in Sleaford. At least one member of the team must be a regular volunteer, and the event will include a hot supper, licensed bar and prizes for the winning teams. Read more here.

Mental Health Promotion Draft Strategy Consultation. Lincolnshire County Council would like your views on a new mental health promotion strategy which is being developed. The first stage of the consultation period ends on 31st May 2013. You can read more or complete the survey here.

Voluntary Centre Services is part of Volunteer Centres Lincolnshire, one of only 8 projects to be awarded support from the national 'Innovation in Giving Fund', run by Nesta and funded by the Cabinet Office, to find new ways of connecting volunteers with opportunities in the local community. We will be working with Lincolnshire CVS, the Police and Crime Commissioner and the police to develop a new volunteer support role and have a positive impact on community safety. Read more here.

Funding News:
The Police and Crime Commissioner has launched a ‘Community and Voluntary Fund’ with grants available from £250 - £1000. You can read more and make an application here.
Applications to the Thonock Trust are invited from small community groups who need some money to assist with running costs, equipment or activities that benefit people living in in Gainsborough, Corringham, Blyton, Springthorpe and Lea. The application deadline is June 1st. Read more here.

Applying to BBC Children in Need – changes to grants programmes. BBC Children in Need’s processes for applying for a grant have recently changed and there are also new application deadlines for Small Grants and Main Grants programmes. Download the guidance notes here.
West Lindsey Community Assets Fund is a £1.2m fund created by West Lindsey District Council and is run by two leading organisations in community and social enterprise, CAN and the Plunkett Foundation. The programme supports communities to develop community enterprise for the benefit of their communities, for example: the opening or refurbishment of community buildings; the development of community infrastructure such as shops, pubs, or local transport.
