Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers across the UK. This year, the 37th annual Volunteers Week is taking place during the Month of Community. The Month of Community, launched by The Eden Project Communities, is about creating a focal point in the year to encourage us all to think about and join in with a wide variety of activity happening in our local communities. It is a time to connect in our neighbourhoods, give back, say thank you and shine a light on the amazing communities we live in. Our community spirit will become stronger and we will all feel the benefits.

Here at Voluntary Centre Services we’d also like to use this time to create a platform to build on, and inspire more volunteers for the future.  Here is what you can do:

How do I get involved?

We would like to invite you to share with us any messages of thanks to your volunteers and we’d love it if you could send us any pictures you may have of them. As the saying goes “a picture speaks a thousand words” so whether your volunteers would be happy to gather together for a group photo, or you have any action shots of them volunteering, we’d love to see them and share them on our own social media platforms during June.

How do I do this?

Please email any messages of thanks and/or pictures to us via the following email: volunteering@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk

When do I do it?

Please could we have all messages and pictures by Wednesday 18th May

Please do remember to check with your volunteers that they are happy to be photographed, and for you to share any photograps with Voluntary Centre Services to promote volunteering on our social media platforms.

(If any of your volunteers want to talk to us in more detail about how their photo may be used, please refer them directly to either Jane or Steph – see email addresses below).

What else can I do during Volunteers’ Week?

You may wish to use Volunteers’ Week to highlight the work your volunteers have been involved in on your own social media/platforms – can we ask if you do this to use the hashtags #VolunteersWeek and #MonthofCommunity so that it makes it more visible to the wider community and helps to promote the fantastic work you do even further.

You might have arranged an event yourself during Volunteers’ Week, or perhaps for the Platinum Jubilee, and if so we’d love to hear about it.

Both Steph and myself can be contacted as always as follows:

Jane: jane@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk  and   Steph: steph@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk

Alternatively, you can call any of our office numbers and choose option 1 for volunteering:
