Sleaford will be brought to life through a celebration of culture and creativity on Saturday 19 March 2022.

RiverLight promises to be a spectacular festival, celebrating and welcoming people back to the high street, showcasing our wonderful local community, and helping Sleaford to re-build stronger after the pandemic.

Expect imaginative artworks, performances, street theatre, music, competitions, trails, dance, puppet shows, food stalls, light projections and more!

The River Slea is at the heart of the festival and a creative trail around the town will take visitors to four zones where artists, businesses, retailers, schools, community groups, venues and landmarks have worked together to create inspiring projects, artworks and activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Hub is working with a community-based team to organise the event and is busy confirming the full festival programme. For more details, follow RiverLight on social media @riverlightfestival and keep your eye on hub-sleaford.org.uk/riverlight

RiverLight 2022 will take place during the afternoon and evening of Saturday 19 March. Look out for fringe events, workshops, community activities, art installations, and shop & cafe offers, in the lead up to the festival.

Leader of North Kesteven District Council, Cllr Richard Wright:

“RiverLight will undoubtedly achieve so much in bringing the community together in a celebration of many of the special qualities and aspects that make Sleaford so distinct; championing the vibrant arts scene centred on the Hub, drawing on the collaboration of the many local contributors and celebrating the special characteristics of our community.

By making good use of the funding awarded to North Kesteven District Council through the Government’s Welcome Back Fund, RiverLight will promote the safe and enjoyable return into our town centre following Covid restrictions.

We are very excited to be bringing something to Sleaford that is unique, celebratory and rooted in community collaboration. This is a great time to bring everyone together and celebrate these important aspects of life locally.”

Clare Edwards from the Hub said:

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with local partners to create a NEW festival for Sleaford.

RiverLight will be a town-wide celebration. At the heart of the festival is the River Slea and a creative trail around will take visitors to four town centre zones where artists, businesses, retailers, schools, community groups, venues and landmarks have worked together to create inspiring projects, artworks and activities for everyone to enjoy.

The community response has been truly amazing and it’s not too late to get involved. Look out for free public workshops at the Hub, Sleaford library and other venues, as well as activities that you can do at home or in your setting, to create artworks for the festival.”
