The Safer Living Foundation was established as a Charity in 2014. It is a joint venture between HMP Whatton and Nottingham Trent University, the National Probation Service and Nottinghamshire Police. The aim of the Charity is to prevent further victims of sexual abuse by reducing sexual reoffending through rehabilitative and preventative initiatives.
The SLF would like to open a similar facility in Lincoln City Centre. Discussions with Lincolnshire Police, the Probation Service in Lincolnshire and with a number of community agencies have indicated that there is a significant need for this service. The SLF is able to raise funding for running costs, but needs help in financing a suitable premises.
Ideally this would be a centrally located facility with its own access and sufficient space for a meeting room, kitchen, office and toilet facilities since many of our service users are elderly and/or have a disability; ground floor accommodation or access to a lift would be very helpful. The SLF may be able to fundraise for rental costs but if a facility could be obtained on a nominal cost this would be extremely helpful to enable us to establish the service.
The intention is that the SLF will work with existing community groups in Lincoln and links have been established with Lincolnshire Action trust and the Diocese of Lincoln with this in mind.
