Area Coordinator North Kesteven

Caty joined Voluntary Centre Services in 2008 to set up and manage our North Kesteven centre. She leads a district-based team of staff and volunteers delivering an accredited Volunteer Centre plus local support and development services for the voluntary/community sector. She is an experienced trainer and project manager, and provides networking opportunities, learning events and one to one business development support for voluntary groups, community organisations and social enterprises in the North Kesteven area.

Caty is also involved in the management of countywide projects delivered in partnership with a range of public, private and third sector partners.  She has had a lead role in high profile projects including: Greater Lincolnshire MOVE, Adult Safeguarding: Everyone's Responsibility, the government-funded vinspired youth volunteering programme, European Social Fund (ESF) learning programmes, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) funded employability support and Transforming Local Infrastructure.

A qualified trainer (level 4 equivalent) and Investing in Volunteers Advisor, Caty has written good practice publications on volunteer recruitment and management for the Volunteer Centres Lincolnshire network and the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts.

She has over 20 years experience in the voluntary and community sector including management of a UK-wide Heritage Lottery Fund diversity project, administering a grants programme, management of a large urban Volunteer Centre and associated employability services,  achievement of quality standards, developing new learning programmes and co-ordination of a respite and short break programme for disadvantaged families. She has an honours degree in media from the University of Westminster and has worked in a diverse range of private and public sector environments including financial services, retail and adult education.

In her spare time Caty is a trustee of Lincoln-based charity, Green Synergy, and is involved in local community activities. Past voluntary roles have included wildlife habitat restoration, building a school in a remote part of Tanzania and abseiling wearing a teddy bear suit.
