Having worked for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue for the last 7 years, Lorraine joined the Voluntary Centre Services in 2015 as the Talent Match Youth Advocate for Gainsborough. Following a successful programme supporting young people back into employment, education or training , Lorraine joined the Greater Lincolnshire MOVE project to bring her expertise to the project in Gainsborough. Funding has been secured for a Talent Match Legacy Project which will launch in the Summer of 2019. The new project, YES will offer 1:1 support to 16-30's as well as working with local employers to offer young people meaningful work experience.
Lorraine has worked extensively with the young people of Gainsborough in her previous role of Team Leader with the Princes Trust TEAM programme. She gained an honours degree in History of Art and Design from Lincoln University and holds a CTLLS certificate along with a wide variety of youth related qualifications including Counselling, Minfullness, Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Intervention . During her time with Princes Trust, Lorraine developed the new format of DVD presentations with her students which was a completely new venture within the programme, enabling students to communicate their journey in a 21st century way using digital media. Lorraine also created a system for creating Risk Assessments which was recognized as Best Practice within Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue’s Youth Engagement Team. She has delivered many sessions on employability, teamwork, confidence building and community working.
Lorraine has also worked as a volunteer with SOVA and as an Assistant with the Young Firefighters project in Lincoln. In her spare time, Lorraine is involved in environmental projects in the Outer Hebrides where she is renovating an old school.
