It is national Volunteers Week 1st-7th June and what better way to say a very big thank you to all volunteers! #ThanksLincsVolunteers

Volunteers’ Week takes place every year and this year is even more essential to recognise the fabulous contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.

Voluntary Centre Services (VCS) feel that at a time like this during the pandemic it is more important than ever to recognise and say thank you to volunteers in Lincolnshire.

The current pandemic has put the value of the contribution of community groups and volunteers firmly in the spotlight with volunteers stepping up to help people in ways never seen before. Conversely, the pandemic has made it impossible for many volunteers to give their time and feel the benefits of volunteering while services are on hold. Knowing that their support will still be needed and that they are still valued is a crucial message that we can help communicate through Volunteers Week.

So, whether services and volunteers are in full swing or they are on hold and doing their best to maintain the support and enthusiasm of their supporters, we want to help the voluntary and community groups in Lincolnshire say THANK YOU!

Ben Barley, CEO at Voluntary Centre Services said: “The Covid-19 crisis has demonstrated that everyone can make a difference.”

“We’ve seen new volunteers stepping up to help in all sorts of creative ways, which has helped so many people to cope with isolation and lockdown. Thousands of people who normally volunteer are continuing to provide support wherever they can.  But we should also not forget the many volunteers who would normally be active in their community and are unable to do so at the moment. Their support will be needed more than ever as society recovers.” #NeverMoreNeeded

VCS are asking community groups and volunteers to share their volunteering stories via the ‘Volunteering in Lincolnshire’ Facebook page, and help spread the message: #ThanksLincsVolunteers. Or if you’d like share your volunteering story with VCS by email or phone, please get in touch:  info@voluntarycentreservices.org.uk  or telephone: 01522 551683. We’d be happy to feature your message on our website, Facebook or Twitter

Thank you to every volunteer this Volunteers’ Week
